Launching of Automated Library Services at Eastern University

 
The Eastern University Library organized a launching ceremony of Automated Library Services through KOHA Integrated Library Management Systems on Sunday 30 December 2012 at the library premises. Prof. Dr. S. M. Zabed Ahmed, Chairperson, Department of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka & Librarian, Dhaka University Library was present on the occasion as the Chief Guest and Dilara Begum, Country Coordinator, Digital Library Network South Asia (DLNETSA), President (Acting), Library Association of Bangladesh (LAB) and Librarian, East West University, was present as the Special Guest. Prof. Dr. Nazrul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, EU was also present in the program. Prof. Dr. Nurul Islam, Vice Chancellor, EU was presiding over the ceremony. Welcome speech and launching overview on Automated Library Services was presented by Md. Jahangir Alam, Deputy Librarian, Eastern University.
 
On the occasion, Dilara Begum said that EU Library Team has made an ideal and wonderful automated library that can play a vital role in the proposed Library Network in Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. S. M. Zabed Ahmed said that building automated library is a very complex and challenging work for our country but Eastern University Library has overcome the challenge. He also consented that EU Automated Library is one of the best automated libraries in Bangladesh. At the end, the Honorable Vice Chancellor said it is a wonderful and great achievement for our university that would be more helpful for our users.
